Thoughts Before The Final Stage
Okay, first of all, I can see the series ending in one of three ways: World is destroyed/everyone dies, world is reset, or bloodbath with some survivors. I think out of those three choices, I'd rather go with the third. Sure, I could go with the second option, but that's just cheap. I've always found that plot device cheap. Same for the first option, but I think the chances for that are slim. If they did that, Sunrise and Taniguchi will have a lot of pissed off fans to contend with.
Nonetheless, I am expecting a whole lot of war casualties. My definites are: C.C. (obvious), Charles (ditto), Rolo (pretty much confirmed for 19), Jeremiah (cyborg), random BK/KOR/Royals, Xing-ke (sick/weak) and Nina (I'll get to her in a moment.). I think everyone else has a 50/50 chance, give or take. Meh. As of right now, I'm already dreading the inevitable loss of Asahina and Rolo. Chiba pretty much damned herself or Tohdoh in the last episode, too. You just don't tell a person that you have something you want to tell them after a battle/war, in an anime series.
I have to do a little paragraph about Nina and Freya. I mentioned in the latest episode post that I can't support her further. I've been hoping that she'd be able to redeem herself in some way, but I just don't see it happening anymore. Naturally, the bomb is gonna go off; we've known that for a long time now. And I'm very sure she just signed her own death warrant, when she told Lloyd she wanted it mounted on Lancelot and have Suzaku be the one to fire it. Now, I know Lloyd used the "Contradiction" line before with Suzaku, but I could tell a big difference in his expressions. He meant the same thing to both of them, but I think he's a little more serious with Nina. Besides what he was getting at, I could almost sense something along the lines of, "Screw with any of my children, and you're dead!". I'm not just saying this because I'm a Pudding-tan enthusiast; but if Freya doesn't kill her, I'm almost sure that Lloyd will. He gave Nina the chance, and is partially responsible for Freya as a result. I'd find it rather fitting if he did the honors. In fact, I'd love it if he did, but that's just the Lloyd fanatic in me talking.
I guess that's all I can really comment on, for now. If things were ugly before, then what's about to happen is going to be much worse. I guess I should consider getting a huge box of tissues, 'cause I'm gonna need it for sure.
